Team, * First, here are a few notes from Kevin about due dates: o The Software plan is now due next Thursday so that Microsoft Project can be installed on the lab computers. Microsoft Project is the application Drew will be using to design our Gantt chart for the software plan. o Our presentation based on our Software Plan will be next Friday in class. The presentation will last no more than 10 minutes. o Resumes are due next Thursday. Everyone needs to have their resume critiqued by the Career Center and updated by then. The critiqued resume (with writing on it) will be handed in separately next Thursday, and the updated resume will be attached to the end of our Software Plan. * Description of Problem (from Ken): Within the Science buildings, Roger Bacon & Morelle, there are many computers, printers, wireless access points, webcams (both wireless and wired tot he wall). A map that shows the positions of all computers and computer equipment must be made, for not only inventory but for technical support purposes. The map has to be dynamic in order to be able to accommodate for new computers being added and computers being moved and such. * Uses of the map: o updated inventory of equipment all in one database o If there are problems with a computer or printer within the School of Science, Ken and/or Eric Crossman can go in and look at the equipment they have in order to repair the problem. They would like to be able to access this from anywhere in the world (or where the cs network is accessible). * Requirements: o Ken would like a toolbox application where he can look up the information on the computers, printers, access points, etc on the network and be able to see their specifications and ping them if need be. He would also like the capability to add or change locations of computers using this toolbox. o There will be three levels of access: + Administrator(Ken): He would have access to the entire application. + Dept Head: their restrictions were undefined by Ken + User: can see only the information about the computers in their office and the equipment that they are allowed access too. They can also submit a request form to Ken asking him to install any new computers or computer equipment to the database. * Constraints: The only constraints are that any software you use must be compatible with the CS network and it must run on oraserv and be mobile. * Dr. Lederman said it we would be a great idea to look at the prototype of the map from last year on the MAJIK Team website. * The Team website will be due on Friday September 28th. * That is pretty much it, the meeting was very confusing, at best. If anyone has anything extra to add, please do.
